Accessibility

Introduction

Adif, a state-owned company attached to the Ministerio de Fomento, provides its users with a practical communication channel accessible to all, the aim of which is to remove barriers and to achieve improved Internet presence for its web site pursuant to criteria of maximum simplicity, range and efficiency, in such a way as to enable it to disseminate information and the services it offers to anyone who wishes to consult them.

Accessibility

This action falls in line with the guidelines of the European Union Council Resolution of 25th March, 2002 concerning the eEurope 2002 Action Plan, " Accessibility of public spaces and their content", complies with the provisions of the Information Society and E-commerce Services Act of 11th July 2002 and follows the Government's guidelines set forth in the " Guide to the edition and publication of web ages".

WAI guidelines

In this sense, the contents of the Adif web site have been validated with AA-level certification, in accordance with the recommendations of the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative), an international working group belonging to the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), which works to ensure that no group suffers from discriminations of any type that might lead to social fractures in the virtual world. Consequently, the techniques employed on Adif’s portal meet WAI guidelines, for both XHML, as well as CSS, marking.

External Certifications

In order to achieve this goal of facilitating access to all, we have been able to count on the collaboration of two external organisations entrusted with certifying compliance with W3C WAI guidelines at AA-level.

Inaccessible content / Exceptions

Some content is still not as fully accessible as we would like it to be. We are currently working on resolving this situation. Meanwhile, the following content fails to meet WAI guidelines:

  • External applications or interfaces integrated into the Adif web site.
  • Certain documents in pdf format may prove difficult to access.

Adif undertakes to provide any of these documents in an accessible format upon request.
