Validation of railway products
The Procedure for the “Validation of Railway Products” aims to regulate the process followed by Adif to “validate” products to be installed on the General Interest Railway Network. This strategy is intended to facilitate the contracting mechanisms and serve as quality control for these products.
This process is based on demonstrating compliance with the requirements set out in the corresponding Validated Technical Specification (VTS).
Validatable Technical Specifications (VTS)
Preliminary Validation
The requirements that products must meet in order to be validated include a series of laboratory tests detailed in the specifications (VTS), which also define the characteristics and type of laboratories where they are to be carried out. Additionally, some products require on-track testing to complete the validation process. These tests must be defined in the reference specifications (VTS).
Once the laboratory tests have been completed, Adif can grant a "preliminary validation" of the product, prior to conducting on-track tests. Products that obtain this preliminary validation will appear in the “List of products with preliminary validation”.
