European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

In the period 2021-2027, five Political Objectives have been defined for EU investments:
  • PO.1. A more competitive and intelligent Europe.
  • PO.2. A greener, low-carbon Europe.
  • PO.3. A more connected Europe, improving mobility.
  • PO.4. A more social and inclusive Europe.
  • PO.5. A Europe closer to its citizens.
The Spanish Association Agreement 2021-2027, approved on November 18, 2022, by the European Commission, is the strategic document that includes the basic approach and investment priorities of the ERDF, ESF+, FEMPA and the FTJ for the period 2021-2027.

European Union "Connecting Europe Facility" (CEF)

The European Union's "Connecting Europe Facility" (CEF) is a financial instrument set up by the European Commission with the aim of building, developing, modernizing and completing trans-European networks, taking into account long-term decarbonisation commitments and the targets of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, and territorial, social and economic cohesion, and facilitating synergies between the digital, transport and energy sectors.

The specific goal of the EU's "Connecting Europe Facility" (CEF) in the transport sector is to support investments that contribute to the development of projects of common interest related to efficient, interconnected and multimodal networks and infrastructure to achieve mobility that is smart, interoperable, sustainable, integrative, accessible and safe, and to adapt part of the TEN-T for dual transport infrastructure use with a view to improving both civilian and military mobility.
These grants are managed by the European Commission's European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) through annual calls and are competively awarded among the different applications submitted.
