Sant Andreu Station
#TransformemRodalies
Title
The construction of the Sant Andreu station and the new route of the Barcelona-Granollers conventional line -two key initiatives in the Sagrera-Sant Andreu operation- eliminate the surface route, bringing a sense of cohesion to the neighbourhoods located on either side of the tracks. These actions generate more urban space and promote decarbonisation and socioeconomic dynamisation in the north of Barcelona.
The work is part of the most complex and ambitious infrastructure plan to be carried out in Catalonia and Spain in recent years, the Transformem Rodalies project. Its development will establish the railway as the benchmark means of public transport, spearheading sustainable, comprehensive and intermodal mobility, integrated into the environment and at the service of the public.
Sustainable, accessible and more public space
The new passenger building, measuring 696 m2, is located on the slab that covers the tracks, with two platforms (210 m) serving four tracks, two of which are for garaging Rodalies trains.
The station prioritises sustainability, taking advantage of the natural light coming in through large skylights; and accessibility, with two lifts connecting the lobby with the platforms, as well as escalators and fixed stairs, and signposted routes for the visually impaired. It also has three entrances: one from the footbridge connecting to the historic station, another from the bridge on Carrer de Sant Adrià and a third from the footbridge at La Maquinista.

Urban art on the past and future of mobility
Sant Andreu is the site of a 3,100 m2 urban art mural, the largest in railway facilities in Spain, created by the renowned artists Roc Blackblock and Miquel Wert. It transports travellers and the general public back in time to the past of the railway and the future of mobility, reviewing its history, the innovation that has enabled its evolution, its contribution to social and economic development and to the sustainability of the communities it connects.
Barcelona-Granollers conventional gauge line
The final stretch of the Barcelona-Granollers-Girona conventional line (4.3 km, of which 2.8 km are underground) through the interior of the future Sagrera station structure begins under the Nus de la Trinitat.
After a section in the open air, it enters a tunnel, with a stop at the new Sant Andreu station, and runs to the interior of Sagrera station, although trains will not yet stop there. From Sagrera station it will continue, also via tunnel, to El Clot.
